S-Dは、Scanning-Data の略。データをスキャンする、情報を読み取るといったイメージを表現している。データや情報によって構築されたもう一つの世界を表現した「Universe」シリーズから派生した、よりミクロ的な視点によってデータそのものを捉えた作品群である。
